Six Careers. Three husbands. Many lovers
RHODA'S MEMOIR, RHODA: HER FIRST NINETY YEARS IS NOW AVAILABLE AT:  www.Amazon.com

This historical memoir   covers almost nine decades of a life exuberantly lived. A first generation American, born in Chicago in 1918, Rhoda lived and worked through several eras: the early 1920s, the depression years, World War Two and the postwar period in San Francisco in the Fifties and Sixties; Berkeley and the world in the Seventies, Eighties, Nineties, and the Ought years.

Not afraid to change her life every twelve years, Rhoda has been an elementary school teacher, a journalist, a fashion designer/owner of her own business, as well as a leader in the field of training teachers to teach English as a second or foreign language. Working and traveling throughout the world (including a Fulbright to Korea at age 63, and an assistant professorship in China at 67), Rhoda shares her successes and failures in a story of survival.

Funny, sexy, and emotionally honest, her stories will resonate with anyone who has swum against the current.

DOORS

I used to like closing doors behind me,
and never looking back.

I never went to class reunions;
Who were all those people?

Decades tumbled through a maze,
memories jostled each other
in a crowded hidden space.

Now I am writing stories
of everything that happened
behind those closed doors.

I used to like closing doors behind me
and never looking back.

Yet those doors kept cracking open,
revealing secrets I thought
forever locked away.

The past is always with me,
and I cannot run away.
